Mr. Naoki Uhara, Mr. Rui Inoue, and Mr. Yuto Kawamura are senior students of the undergraduate school of Architecture at Kyoto University. They are working on their Bachelor thesis study with our research group.
Mr. Kun-Sian Lin will be starting his Ph.D. life this April after one year as a research student waiting in Taiwan for the border to re-open due to the corona virus restrictions.

Ms. Kanako Onishi and Mr. Keiichiro Kunitomo passed the public hearing for their master’s thesis on February 4, 2021 and completed the graduation ceremony on March 24. We believe that they will be active in their new workplaces, making use of the experience and knowledge they gained during their three years in our laboratory.

Prof. DesRoches and our group members discussed some of our recent research progresses. Dr. Konstantinos A. Skalomenos, who spend four years in our laboratory as a JSPS postdoctoral fellow and a specially-appointed Assistant Professor, is appointed as an Assistant Professor in the University of Birmingham. All the staff of the Ikeda-Kurata laboratory wishes the further success of Dr. Skalomenos.
We held a welcome party for new members, Mr.Kobayashi and Mr.Fukuzawa.
Prof. Kurata gave a keynote presentation at the 15th International Symposium of IMCA. He explained the design, fabrication, and research on the Japanese Steel Building using HSS columns.
Mr. Giuseppe Marzano, the 3rd year doctoral student, of Ikeda-Kurata laboratory, received the best presentation award in the DPRI annual meeting. Congratulations on the successful presentation.
The bachelor thesis of Ms. Kako Onishi was selected as the best bachelor thesis in structural engineering among 28 theses and awarded the Hibi Tadahiko prize. Congratulations for the great achievement,
